Steady Conditions Set the Tone for a Productive Offshore Week

Winds remained generally light to moderate on Friday, August 21, 2026, contributing to calm seas across the area. The combination of clear skies, warm air and water temperatures, and 4- to 5-foot waves created stable marine conditions that supported safe and efficient fishing operations. Mariners experienced minimal wind-related impacts during the reporting period.
Friday, aboard the 66-foot Viking, “FRIDAY BANK,” Captain Alex and Mates Roberto and Omar conducted a successful charter outing at Jaime Bank with a group of eight clients: Chris Brenner, Sasi Duggirala, Richard Freeman, Scott Grant, Jack Crowley, Andrew Procell, Carlos Ramirez, and Chris Schmitt. Favorable offshore conditions produced outstanding action, with the anglers landing 18 Yellowfin Tuna ranging from 18 to 72 pounds, primarily caught on trolled lures while fishing outside Jaime Bank. In addition, the group released one Sailfish estimated to weigh 100 pounds, which took a live caballito in offshore waters beyond Jaime Bank. Overall, the trip was highly productive and provided the guests with an excellent offshore fishing experience.
Aboard the 46-foot Viking, “Big Yahoo,” Captain Ricardo and crew members Jose and Marco led a successful Half-Day offshore fishing excursion for a group from Eugene, Oregon–Bill Dupee, Nicholas Hendricks, Ian Juliano, Austin Knickerbocker, and Jason Reisman. The trip delivered excellent billfish action at the Arcos Spot, where the anglers caught and released two Striped Marlin, estimated to weigh 90 and 100 pounds. The fish were hooked on live caballito, making for a memorable experience for all participants.
On Saturday, August 22, 2026, marine conditions were highly favorable. Sea conditions remained calm with clear skies, and wave heights were steady in the 4- to 5-foot range. Water temperatures of 89 to 91°F and air temperatures reaching 88°F created warm yet stable conditions. Light to moderate winds of 1 to 14 knots contributed to generally comfortable boating and offshore activities. Overall, the combination of clear weather, calm seas, warm temperatures, and manageable winds is expected to provide good conditions for marine operations and recreational water activities.
The group of anglers, including Cullen Yates, Daylin Mitchell, Frank Marquez, Hailee Browning, Lyssa Havard, Tara Moore, and Tony Pace, enjoyed a productive morning in the Arcos Spot area aboard the 42-foot Bertram “YAHOO,” captained by Jose Escamilla and mate Esteban. The anglers released two Striped Marlin between 90 and 100 pounds while fishing with caballito, and they also landed two Yellowfin Tuna weighing approximately 40 to 60 pounds. They boated two Skipjack Tuna, each 3 to 4 pounds, all caught on trolled lures (palo) about two miles offshore of the Margaritas. Favorable conditions and consistent action made for an enjoyable day on the water.
Sunday, August 23, 2026: Light winds maintained comfortable conditions, with calm seas and clear skies, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience on the water. Wave heights between 5 and 6 feet caused some offshore movement, but overall conditions stayed favorable. Air temperatures ranged from 79 to 87°F, while water temperatures climbed to 91°F, making it a lovely late-summer day ideal for boating, fishing, or just relaxing in the ocean.
Aboard the 35-foot Cabo flybridge, the “Bill Collector 2,” Captain Abel R. and Mate Jose Luis R. headed out with a group of six to the San Jaime Bank in search of Yellowfin Tuna. Joining the trip were Charles Morris, Horacio Clare, and Juan Diego Fernandez from Miami, Florida, who found success using curry and Kite fishing techniques, landing Yellowfin Tuna ranging from 15 to 80 pounds. It was an action-packed day on the water, with great offshore tuna fishing.
On Monday, August 24, 2026, wave heights ranged from 6 to 7 feet, and light winds throughout the day contributed to smooth offshore travel, calm seas, and comfortable fishing conditions. Water temperatures held at 90°F, and air temperatures ranged from 80 to 88°F. Outstanding visibility made for an exceptionally pleasant late-August day on the water.
Captain Abel R. and Crew Members Jose Luis R. and Mario R. welcomed anglers Cullen Yates, Daylin Mitchell, Frank Marquez, Hailee Browning, Tara Moore, and Tony Pace aboard the 35-foot Cabo flybridge, “Bill Collector 2.” The group enjoyed a productive day of fishing at the San Jaime Bank, where the anglers landed one Yellowfin Tuna weighing about 70 or 80 pounds using the Kite fishing technique, adding an impressive catch to the day’s offshore adventure.
Fishing approximately 28 miles offshore on a 220-degree heading, Captain JC Lopez and Mates Erick Jr. and Luis aboard the 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, “Bill Collector 4,” used a mix of lures, palos, and bait to deliver steady action and a quality catch for their group. The variety of techniques paid off when anglers Brian Dillard, Gary Brauchle, Patrick Cadorette, Paul Johnston, and Richard Hinton put four Dorado in the boat, ranging from 15 to 60 pounds.
Tuesday, August 25, 2026, was a warm, beautiful day on the water. Clear skies and light to moderate winds of 2 to 14 knots made the trip a bit bumpy at times, but overall it was comfortable, with waves around 5 to 6 feet. Water temperatures remained warm at 89°F, while air temperatures ranged from 84 to 89°F. Overall, it was a pleasant day with favorable conditions for boating and fishing.
Anglers Fred and Jennifer Cooper were all smiles when Captain Frank and Mate Bryan G made the most of favorable conditions and delivered steady action aboard the 28-foot Uniflite, “ADRIANA.” Fishing a
Captain Fernando and Mate Charlie, aboard the 31-foot Bertram “TRACY ANN,” put together a fun day offshore with anglers Kyle Walton, Leslie Henry, Mark Kettler, and Richard Burke from Hewitt, Texas. Fishing 25 miles to the 220 Spot, the anglers found success targeting Yellowfin Tuna in the 20 to 70-pound range. The fish were eager to bite on both curry and palo, keeping rods bent and the action steady throughout the trip. The group enjoyed a productive day on the water, landing quality tuna and making plenty of great memories along the way.
On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the water temperature stayed around 90°F, while air temperatures ranged from 83 to 90°F throughout the day. The sea was moderate, with wave heights around 4 to 5 feet. Winds were light to a bit choppy at times, ranging from 2 to 17 mph, making for generally pleasant boating and fishing conditions. Overall, it was a nice day to enjoy the water.
Aboard the 35-foot Bertram “VALERIE,” captained by Roberto with Sandez and Raul assisting, angler Scott Sparr from Naples, Florida, had a productive offshore fishing trip. Efforts were concentrated outside the Lighthouse, where the angler landed 15 Yellowfin Tuna using a spread of tuna lures, which proved highly effective throughout the trip. The tuna ranged from 20 to 88 pounds. Favorable sea conditions and strategic lure choices contributed to the successful Yellowfin Tuna outing.
Guests Emily Callihan, Joshua Griffin, Katherine Griffin, and Scottie Witt from Canyon Lake, Texas, chartered the 29-foot Black Fin “EL CAZADOR,” operated by Carmelo and Luis A. Fishing the productive waters outside the Lighthouse, the group landed eight Yellowfin Tuna while trolling a spread of tuna lures. The fish weighed between 20 and 77 pounds. Consistent action and favorable conditions made for a successful and memorable day on the water.
On Thursday, August 27, 2026, weather conditions were clear with calm seas, providing favorable marine and outdoor conditions. Wave heights ranged between 2 and 4 feet, while winds remained light at approximately 4 knots. The water temperature was recorded at 90°F, and air temperatures ranged from 91°F to 104°F throughout the day. Overall, the combination of clear skies, minimal wind, and calm sea conditions contributed to a stable and pleasant environment.
The 31ft Bertram “REBECCA,” captained by Jose Ramon Alucano/Marcelo, had an exciting day on the water with Michael, Sam, and Thomas Woodward from Basking Ridge, New Jersey. The crew successfully landed one 80-pound sailfish and also caught one dorado weighing 26 pounds and two yellowfin tuna ranging from 23 to 42 pounds. The team fished using both live caballito and dead caballito bait, along with golden lures fished offshore. It was a productive and memorable trip, highlighted by a great variety of catches and excellent action throughout the day
Aboard the 35ft Cabo Flybridge “Bill Collector 4,” captains Jean Carlo, Jean Ramon, and Erick took Alison and Ron Honeycutt from Redondo Beach, California, on a successful offshore fishing adventure. The crew headed about 30 miles out to the 230 Spot, where they worked kite and curry fishing techniques to target tuna. Their efforts paid off with four impressive yellowfin tuna weighing between 60 and 80 pounds each. It was an action-packed day on the water, and the Honeycutts enjoyed great fishing, strong battles, and an excellent catch to cap off their trip.
