Cabo San Lucas Delivers Catch success rate 85%, Billfish 32%, Dorado 36%. Other 20%. Roosterfish 12%, Tuna 22%, Wahoo 7%
Pisces Sportfishing’s report for February 20–26, 2026, reflects another week of steady action and strong catch‑and‑release performance across the Cabo San Lucas fleet. Known for its professionalism, conservation leadership, and highly trained crews, Pisces continues to uphold its reputation with a billfish release rate of nearly 98.6 percent. March’s early trend of consistent Striped Marlin encounters, occasional Blue Marlin, and dependable Dorado and Wahoo action has carried into late February, supported by calm seas, warm water temperatures ranging from the high 60s to upper 70s, and a stretch of clear skies that allowed boats to run confidently to the 95 Spot, the 180 Spot, the Herradura, and other productive grounds. Throughout the week, anglers from across the United States and Canada enjoyed a mix of offshore and inshore opportunities, with crews demonstrating the skill, teamwork, and attentive service that define the Pisces experience.

On Friday, February 20, the 29-foot Blackfin, El Cazador, set the tone for the week with a high-energy run to the 180 Spot. Captain Carmelo and Mate Luis guided David Allen Strickland and Irene García Díaz of Venus, Florida, into a lively Dorado bite, boating three fish in the 20 to 25-pound class. The standout moment came when a 37-pound Wahoo detonated on the trolling spread, delivering a fast, powerful fight and adding a quality catch to the day’s tally.

Meanwhile, the 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, Bill Collector 2, with Captain Abel and Mate Ninja, worked in the Casita Blanca and the Lighthouse areas with anglers that included Angela McKenzie, Jamie Bridgewater, and Travis McKenzie from Glendale, Arizona. Their efforts produced six Sierra weighing 3 to 5 pounds on cuchy, followed by four Skipjack in the 4 to 7‑pound range, rounding out a productive inshore session.

Saturday, February 21, brought continued calm seas and excellent visibility. The 31-foot Bertram, Tracy Ann, with Captain Fernando and Mate Noe, fished just off the Lighthouse with anglers Keith Connolly and Sonia Geschwindt of Marquette, Michigan. The team released a Striped Marlin estimated at 110 to 120 pounds and boated a Wahoo in the 40 to 45‑pound range, both taken on Rapalas outside the Lighthouse.

Farther offshore, the 66-foot Viking, Friday Bank, captained by Alex, with Mates Saul and Roberto, ran 30 miles to the 210 with a large group from Spring, Texas. Their day featured the release of a Striped Marlin of about 100 pounds and four Dorado in the 20 to 25‑pound class, all taken on bait—the combination of cooperative seas and steady offshore life made for a memorable outing.

Sunday, February 22, continued the trend of clear skies and calm conditions. The 55-foot Viking, Happy Ending, with Captain Allan and Mates Omar, Juan, and Dulce, took anglers Andrew Kirk, Dominic DiPaolo, Michael Crawford, and Nick DiPaolo 25 miles to the 180 Spot. There, they released a Striped Marlin estimated at 100 to 120 pounds on curry and added a Dorado in the 20 to 25-pound range on ballyhoo.

The Bill Collector 2 also delivered offshore success, running 42 miles to the 95 Spot with anglers Chris Reph, Clay Coleman, Greg Reph, Guy Reph, and Kurt Wilhelm from Amherst, Ohio. Their efforts produced three Yellowfin Tuna ranging from 30 to 70 pounds, taken on a kite and curry, demonstrating both the crew’s versatility and the area’s mixed‑species potential.

Monday, February 23, brought slightly higher seas but continued clear weather. The El Cazador returned to form with anglers Silas Locke, Soren Hustad, and Zach Locke from Vail, Colorado. Fishing outside the Herradura, Captain Carmelo and Mate Luis released five Striped Marlin estimated between 90 and 110 pounds, all taken on ballyhoo, and added two Dorado in the 20‑ to 25‑pound class.

Nearby, the 31-foot Bertram, Ruthless, captained by Beto Lira with Mate Super Mario, produced three Striped Marlin releases estimated at 80 to 100 pounds on bait, along with a Dorado in the 20‑ to 25‑pound range on caballito for anglers Bree Bollinger and Grant Dunn of Loranger, Louisiana. The day underscored the strength of the Herradura bite and the crew’s ability to capitalize on it.

Tuesday, February 24, calm seas and warm air temperatures continued. Captain Ray with Mate Koury fished the 95 Spot aboard the 48-foot Viking, Listo, with anglers from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, including Aaron and Briana Moore, Chris Nester, Leslie West, Lloyd West, and Tyler Sterner. Their outing featured the release of a Striped Marlin estimated at 100 to 120 pounds on ballyhoo, a classic winter catch for the region. The Tracy Ann also reported success near the Herradura, where Captain Fernando and Mate Noe guided Anthony and Nicole Roda of South Hadley, Massachusetts, to a Dorado in the 15 to 20‑pound range on bait, adding another solid catch to the week’s tally.

Wednesday, February 25, brought light winds and continued favorable water temperatures. The 42-foot Bertram, Yahoo, captained by José Escamilla, fished the Cerrito del Golden Spot with anglers Brenda and Darren Ottenbreit from Martensville, Saskatchewan. Their day included the release of a Striped Marlin estimated at 90 to 100 pounds on bait, a Roosterfish of about 20 pounds on liza, and a Skipjack in the 2 to 4‑pound range.

Meanwhile, the 28-foot Uniflite, Adriana, captained by Raul with Mate Arturo, delivered a strong performance at the 95 Spot for Dave and Dianna Taylor of Union, Kentucky. Using caballito, they landed two Dorado weighing 15 to 30 pounds and released a Striped Marlin of approximately 120 pounds, demonstrating both the area’s productivity and the crew’s expertise.

Thursday, February 26, the week closed with clear skies and calm seas. The 35-foot Bertram, Valerie, Captain Salvador Flores, and Mate Franco Ceceña focused on inshore action at Migriño with anglers William B. Ketterer, Linda Guarinoya, and Tony Guarinoya from Deep River, Connecticut. Their efforts produced three Triggerfish in the 2 to 3‑pound range, taken on chum, which offered a relaxed and enjoyable finish to their trip. Offshore, the Yahoo returned to the Herradura with anglers Christopher Cardinet, José Pérez, and Scott Wood from Kimberly, Idaho. Their outing included the release of two Striped Marlin estimated at 90 to 100 pounds on ballyhoo and curry-rigged bait, four Dorado in the 20 to 25‑pound class, and a Wahoo weighing 35 to 40 pounds, rounding out one of the week’s most productive mixed‑bag days.
The results for the week highlight the consistency of late‑winter fishing in Cabo San Lucas, with Striped Marlin remaining the dominant offshore species and Dorado and Wahoo providing reliable action across multiple grounds. Inshore opportunities for Sierra, Roosterfish, and Triggerfish added variety for anglers seeking lighter tackle or shorter runs. Pisces crews once again demonstrated their professionalism, commitment to conservation, and deep knowledge of local waters, ensuring memorable experiences for visiting anglers. As March approaches, the combination of stable water temperatures, abundant bait, and active pelagic species suggests that the strong fishing trend will continue, offering excellent opportunities for both seasoned anglers and first-time visitors eager to experience the world-class fishing that defines Cabo San Lucas.
