Anglers aboard both “CHASIN TAIL” and “EL CAZADOR” enjoyed productive outings, targeting Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, and other sought-after game fish. Consistent action at productive fishing grounds, including the 180 Spot and Herradura, produced quality catches and memorable experiences for visiting anglers from California and Texas. The week underscored the region’s reputation for exceptional sportfishing, highlighted by successful tuna fishing and exciting billfish encounters.
Friday, July 31, 2026: Weather and sea conditions were highly favorable, with clear skies and calm seas prevailing throughout the day. Wave heights ranged from 4 to 5 feet, accompanied by light winds of approximately 8 mph, creating generally stable marine conditions. Water temperatures remained warm at 84°F to 85°F, while air temperatures ranged from 89°F to 102°F, indicating hot summer weather. Overall, the combination of clear visibility, calm waters, and warm temperatures provided excellent conditions for marine and outdoor activities.
On Friday, July 31, 2026, the 28-foot Uniflite vessel “ADRIANA,” captained by Frank with Brian serving as crew, conducted a successful fishing trip with three anglers aboard. The group fished the San Jaime Bank, where they targeted yellowfin tuna and achieved a total catch of five yellowfin tuna weighing up to 106 pounds. The 35-foot Cabo Flybridge “BILL COLLECTOR 2,” captained by Abel with Ninja serving as crew, completed a successful offshore fishing trip with four anglers aboard. Fishing approximately 27 miles offshore near Herradura, the group targeted yellowfin tuna and achieved an impressive catch of yellowfin tuna weighing between 50 and 55 pounds, all caught on lures. Fishing was conducted using lures at a location approximately 20 miles offshore, commonly referred to as the 95 Spot.
Guests participating in the charter included Blake Panzeca, Hayden Panzeca, and Noah Velasquez, who are from Metairie, Louisiana, United States. The trip proved successful, producing quality Yellowfin Tuna and providing an enjoyable offshore fishing experience under favorable conditions.
The 62-foot Viking “Chasin Tail”, operated by Pepe, Ramon, and Yuyo, completed a productive offshore fishing trip with five anglers aboard. The charter targeted pelagic species in the waters surrounding San Jaime, approximately 28 miles offshore.
The group successfully landed five Yellowfin Tuna, weighing approximately 40, 50, 70, 84, and 166 pounds. These fish were caught using a combination of lures and skipjack bait. In addition, the anglers released or landed one Striped Marlin estimated at 80 to 90 pounds, which was caught on a ballyhoo rig, and one Sailfish weighing approximately 60 pounds, caught using lures.
Overall, the trip was highly successful, producing a diverse offshore catch that included Yellowfin Tuna, Striped Marlin, and Sailfish, providing an exceptional sportfishing experience under favorable offshore conditions.
Monday, August 3, 2026 Wind: Light to moderate easterly winds at 8-12 knots are expected throughout the day. Conditions will remain favorable with minimal gusting, contributing to the calm sea state and stable weather pattern. Mariners can anticipate generally smooth boating conditions, with winds maintaining a steady flow across the area and little impact on wave heights of 4-5 feet. Visibility is expected to remain excellent under clear skies.
Aboard the Tracy Ann, a 31-foot Bertram captained by Jesus R. and Raul Leal, anglers enjoyed an exceptional day of offshore fishing at Herradura. The party, consisting of Sara Taylor and Zachary Taylor of Boerne, Texas, United States, experienced outstanding action, landing 13 Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 45 and 80 pounds while fishing with palo and curry techniques. Adding to the excitement, the crew also released one Blue Marlin estimated at 130 to 150 pounds, caught on a ballyhoo. On Friday Bank, a 66-foot Viking sportfishing vessel conducted a successful offshore trip to the Bank. The crew, consisting of Alex, Saul, and Beto, departed with a total of six anglers aboard. Fishing conditions were productive, with anglers targeting yellowfin tuna, achieving catches ranging from 20 to 85 pounds. The primary technique utilized was kite fishing, approximately 22 miles offshore, at the location identified as AL 230 Spot.
Participating anglers included Alex Marlow, Amanda Hoffman, Elisa Gambino, Jake Marlow, Jarrett Vickers, Logan Lea, Mathew Cacace, Michael Terry, Monica Cacace, and Nina Johnson. Fishing in the Herradura area, the group successfully landed four Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 20- and 50 pounds using kite fishing techniques. They also caught two Sailfish estimated at 60 to 70 pounds, both taken on caballito bait in the same productive fishing grounds.
