During the second week of 2026, the focus shifted from Striped Marlin to Yellowfin Tuna, with the ‘Karina’ catching twenty-two Tuna in a single day. Pisces boats found success at spots like Los Arcos, La Brecha, Cabeza de Ballena, Golden Gate, Herradura, San Jaime, 180, 230, and 240, consistently catching multiple Tuna.
Between January 9 and 15, 2026, fishing was productive with occasional Striped Marlin, a Blue Marlin under 300 pounds, releases of Roosterfish, and catches of Dorado, Grouper, Red Snapper, and Skipjack.
The pleasant weather, with temperatures from 70 to 76 degrees, calm seas, and water temperatures in the high 70s, creates an inviting atmosphere for anglers to visit Cabo and enjoy excellent fishing and water sports this January.

“LA BRISA,” a 31-foot Bertram with Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Jesus Winkler, headed straight for the Golden Spot, where they had heard reports of Striped Marlin and Dorado.Their Bonney Lake, Washington, anglers joined them that day, and Colby Herrington and Eric Alfano were happy they did. They caught and released one Striped Marlin weighing between 100 and 120 pounds on Ballyhoo, and they also caught four 15 to 25-pound Dorado on mackerel and curry.
Captain Rosendo Gomez and Mate Carlos Santos took the Californians, Gordon Swanson, Julia Livingston, Melissa Fairbank, Reno Swanson, and Tyler Reid, aboard the “TIBURON,” a 31-foot Bertram, to check out the Los Arcos area. The anglers caught and released one 90-pound Striped Marlin on mackerel and two 15 to 20-pound Dorado, also on mackerel.

Anthony Rizzo, John Grasser, Michael Gillens, and Shannon Rizzo, from Nampa, Idaho, chartered the “BBII,” a 37-foot Viking Billfish 2018, captained by Hoctor and Mates Gil and Lalo. They caught and released one Striped Marlin weighing around 100 pounds, one 15-pound Dorado, and eight 20 to 25-pound Yellowfin Tuna, all on bait at the La Brecha.

“ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, run by Captain Fernando Noyola and Mate Bryan, welcomed Michael Towers and Michelle Drummond from Vernon, British Columbia, Canada aboard the boat as they prepared to run to the Golden Gate to fish. The anglers caught three Dorado weighing between 10 and 15 pounds on curry and Ballyhoo, eleven Yellowfin Tuna around 10 pounds on bait, and one 20-pound Jack Crevalle, also on bait. The Canadians were pleased with their catches for the day.

“CHASIN TAIL,” a 62-foot Viking, run by Captain Pepe and Mates Saul and Roberto, took their clients from Tulare, California — Abel Hernandez, Angie Sandoval, Carmen Hernandez, Chris Quinn, Dar Quinn, Jose Sandoval, Kris Herd, and Kristine Herd — 24 miles outside of the Lighthouses where they caught three Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to 30 pounds on bait; in addition, they caught two 10-pound Grouper on caballito and two 15-pound Red Snapper also at the Cabeza de Ballena.

“RUTHLESS,” a 31-foot Bertram captained by Beto Lira with Mate Mario J., hosted five Norwood, Massachusetts guests—Leslie McPadden, Marc Schloss, Nagela Schloss, Nicholas Felix, and Todd McPadden—who caught twenty Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 10 and 25 pounds at Cerro de Arena. At Golden Gate, they landed eight 20-pound Roosterfish, a 25-pound Jack Crevalle, and a 4-pound Skipjack on bait.

Captain Bruce M. and Mate Jesus W., who run the “KARINA,” a 30-foot Bertram, set course for the Golden after hearing multiple reports of Yellowfin Tuna being spotted and caught there. Especially after their clients, David Dickson, David Million, Patrick Granzotto, and Tamara Million from Palmer, Alaska, expressed an interest in catching Tuna. The avid anglers caught twenty-two Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 10 and 20 pounds on bait and feathers, and one 4-pound Skipjack on bait. They had a busy day, and by the time they returned to the dock, they were exhausted.
Captain Jaime took his usual ‘Busman’s Holiday’ and headed to the 240 Spot on the “CALIENTE,” a 42-foot Cabo Flybridge, with his Mate Silverio. When they were fifteen miles from the 240 Spot, they began catching fish, including eleven Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 40 and 90 pounds. Jaime Gonzalez is from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

“REBECCA” is a 31-foot Bertram run by Captain José Ramón Alucano and Mate Marcelo. They were happy to welcome aboard three avid anglers from Ellenton, Florida, including Aaron Fowler, Michael Baronowskus, and Robert Hellmann, who enjoyed fishing as much as the crew. They ran to the 180 Spot and, about 35 miles out, caught three nice-sized Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 45 and 65 pounds on bait, and an impressive 280-pound Blue Marlin on a mackerel that they released around 25 miles from the 180 Spot.

Captain Abraham and Mate Cesar aboard the “KNOT WORKIN,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, welcomed two clients from Silverhill, Alabama, on Tuesday. Colin McNeil and Reagan Byrd caught six 20- to 35-pound Yellowfin Tuna on bait 28 miles to the 240 Spot.

Justin France, Logan Schomus, and Trask Larson chose the “EL CAZADOR,” a 29-foot Blackfin, with Captain Carmelo and Mate Luis for their trip on January 14, and they were highly pleased with their choice. They caught six Yellowfin Tuna, with the smallest weighing 25 pounds and the largest 65 pounds. They caught them on bait and feathers 30 miles out at the 180 Spot.

While on the “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, Captain Juan Ezquivel and Mate Ninja ran to the San Jaime Bank to help their group from St. Petersburg, Florida, including Jared Scott Yaomin, John Curtice Cartier, Richard Lee Hedges, William Auer, and Walker Auer catch fourteen Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to 40 pounds on bait and the Kite.

On Thursday, the “HOT ROD,” a 42-foot Cabo Flybridge captained by Erick Orozco with Mate Hot Rod Jose Ramiro Ramirez, ran to the Herradura with solo angler Tobin Robeck from St. Petersburg, Florida. He successfully caught three Yellowfin Tuna, each weighing between 40 and 50 pounds, using caballito bait and a Rapala lure.

Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Jesus Winkler on the “LA BRISA,” a 31-foot Bertram, welcomed aboard a group from Palmer, Alaska, including David Dickson, David Million, Jarret Conger, Patrick Granzotto, and Tamara Million, as they headed to the 230 Spot in hopes of finding some nice-sized tuna. At 42 miles from the 230 Spot, they began catching the first of twelve 20 to 50-pound Yellowfin Tuna on bait and feathers.
