The weather this week has been ideal for fishing. Water temperature: 68 and 75°F, perfect for various fish species. Although the air temperature has been between 66 and 73°F, it’s chilly to be out on the water. However, if you dress warmly, it can be comfortable for a day at sea. The wind has provided a gentle breeze. And the fish, especially Striped Marlin, have returned. Most boats enter the harbor sporting twin marlin flags.

Captain Arturo and Mates Daniel and Josue, who expertly manage the 48-foot Viking “MY WAY,” had a great group aboard: Benjamin Hayes, Hunter Hayes, James Moffett, James R. Moffett III, and Peter A. Gardere. They headed to the 1150 Spot, where they caught and reléase one 100-pound Striped Marlin on bait and one trophy-sized Wahoo weighing 38.5 pounds on a green and blue lure outside the Cabrillo. It’s no surprise that the clients repeatedly return to fish with the Pisces Fleet. They have a fantastic time with these captains and mates, who are seasoned experts in the Cabo waters and know how to make guests feel great.
The 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, “KNOT WORKIN,” under the leadership of Captain Abraham and Mate Cesar, also had a successful trip outside the Cabrillo. Their guests, including Dennis O’Callaghan and Joanne O’Callaghan, caught a 38.5-pound Wahoo and three Sierra, marking their fishing trip as a resounding success.
Captain Pepe, and Mates Ulises and Ramon took the 62-foot Viking, the “CHASIN TAIL,” with their clients Jim and Ann Anderson, from Reno, Nevada, to the 1150 Spot where the Andersons caught and reléase two 100-pound Striped Marlin. They caught the Marlin on ballyhoo and caballito and enjoyed doing so. This was one of their happiest days on the water, and they will be back for another day of fun in the sun!

Outside the Punta Gorda, the 67-foot Bertram, “LADY HOMA,” run by Captain Lupe Gonzalez and his mates, found James Ameri from California, two 120-pound Striped Marlin to catch and reléase on mackerel. James had a blast catching and reléase the Marlin.
Then on the “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, Captain Abel R. and Mate Jose Luis R took their group from Florida, Caden Baker, Charles Baker, Charles J Baker, Joe Helfrich, and Sully Helfrich, who caught and reléase a 110-pound Striped Marlin on cocinero outside the 1150 Bank.

“Panga Anamar,” a 23-footer with Captain Christian, had two Floridians aboard his panga – Charles Baker and Joe Helfrich. They were out for a good time and caught the only Roosters in the fleet last week. They caught Four Roosterfish in the 8 to 15-pound range on bait at the Cerros de Arena and had a ball catching the fish. They laughed and enjoyed the panga trip with Captain Christian, making it a memorable experience.
Taking a busman’s holiday, Captain Eric Orozco and his Mate, Hot Rod Jose Ramiro Ramirez, headed out in the Pisces’ boat, the “HOT ROD,” a 42-foot Cabo Flybridge, to the Cabrillo Mount to look for Striped Marlin and Yellowfin Tuna. They caught four Yellowfin Tuna in the 20-pound range on lures, and they caught and reléase one 120-pound Striped Marlin on bait. They had a successful day.
Charlie Hayden, Ellie Hayden, Kevin Hayden, and Lori Hayden chartered the “BBII,” a 37-foot Viking Billfish 2018, with Captain Hector and Mate Gil hot on the trail of Marlin. They caught and reléase one 80-pound Striped Marlin on ballyhoo at the 1150 Spot. What a group of friends they turned out to be!
The “TIBURON” crew, featuring Rosendo Gomez and Carlos Santos, appears to have had an eventful fishing trip! With three Groupers and three Ladyfish caught using half-chum at Migriño, they’ve certainly demonstrated their expertise. Additionally, reeling in a 41-pound Yellowtail with a spoon lure at Gaspareño adds a fantastic highlight to the day.
Jared Higginbotham, Megan Glass, and Trayson Scheender must have thoroughly enjoyed their time aboard, coming from Oregon for this adventure. It sounds like an exciting blend of teamwork and skill.
Captain Raul and Mate Marcelo, running the 28-foot Uniflite, “Andrea,” with guests Ann Grover, Mr. Drue Starkka, Rob Grover, and Sylvia Starkka from Saginaw, MN, caught and released two Striped Marlin weighing around 86 to 90 pounds on ballyhoo at the 1150 Spot.
