The waters around Los Cabos have been invitingly clear, calm, and ready for anglers to visit. The water temperature was in the mid-70s while winds were mostly mild, in the 8 to 10-knot range.

Those trying to escape the cold weather in other parts of the world will find the 66 to 80-degree temperatures to their liking. The fish have been cooperating – Striped Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, a few Dorado, and Roosterfish have made this destination one of Baja’s most alluring fishing locations, offering a diverse and exciting fishing adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat and your heart racing with excitement.

"BILL COLLECTOR II," a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge

Captain Juan C Lopez and Mate JC Martinez on the “BILL COLLECTOR II,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, were pleased to meet Dana Trahan, Dustin Trahan, Hayley Schinger, Jesse Naquin, and Matthew Naquin, who were very happy to be out on the water fishing for the day.  They caught eight yellowfin tuna, up to 40 pounds, on bait and one skipjack, which was also on bait, 30 miles to the 190 Spot.

"KNOT WORKIN," a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge.

Adam Mulders, Ashley Weiss, BJ Prime, Cabri Prime, Chad Weiss, and Jill Mulders chartered the “KNOT WORKIN,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, with Captain Tito Olascoaga and Mate David Martinez and had a great day. They caught and released Three Striped Marlin estimated to weigh 100 to 140 pounds, Two approximate 10-pound Dorado, and One Bonito, all on mackerel at the Los Arcos Spot. They were all happy they had caught various species and expressed their intention to return to Los Cabos to perhaps get other species, encouraging repeat visits to the area.

Eleven Yellowfin Tuna up to 108.5 pounds

Larry Canaday from Indiana chartered the “ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite with Captain Fernando Noyola and Mate Marcelo D. running the boat. They were ready to catch some fish, and they did. Larry caught and released One Striped Marlin, weighing around 80 pounds on mackerel 24 miles outside the 220, and Eleven Yellowfin Tuna up to 108.5 pounds on lures in the same location. He was very proud of the tuna he caught, which weighed over 100 pounds, and though it was a long battle, it was worth every moment. Captain Fernando and Mate Marcelo’s expertise and dedication made the trip a memorable one and he thanked them for their assistance.

They caught One 25-pound Wahoo

The “TRACY ANN, a 31-foot Bertram, has Captain Julio Castro and Mate Tracy Ann Bryan running the boat for Don Swantz, Jim Kontota, and Kent Seymour from Michigan. They caught One 25-pound Wahoo, One 20-pound Dorado, and Nine 4-pound Sierra, all on bait at the La Brecha.

Javier Casillas and family from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, said he had the best day fishing from the 30-foot Bertram, “KARINA,” with Captain Bruce and Mate Jorge Velez. He declared that the Captain and Mate were the most skilled crew he could have hoped for, instilling confidence and reassurance in his family’s fishing experience. His words are a testament to the quality of service and the memorable experiences Los Cabos offers, inspiring others to embark on fishing adventures.

On the “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge with Captain Niko and Mate JC Martinez, Delvin Kushniryk, another angler fishing alone, caught and released Seven 100 to 120-pound Striped Marlin on mackerel at the La Brecha. It was a delightful ending to his fishing adventure, and he was pleased with his fishing day. In addition, he was grateful that his captain and mate were experienced and skilled!

Captain Erick Orozco from California took a busman’s holiday on the “HOT ROD,” a 42-foot Cabo Flybridge run by Captain Erick Orozco and Mate Hot Rod Jose Ramiro Ramirez. Erick caught and released Seven Striped Marlin in the 100 to 140-pound range on mackerel at the Lighthouse and caught Seven Yellowfin Tuna in the 20-pound range on mackerel off the Shipwreck Beach. He relaxed and enjoyed his day of fishing!

Also taking a busman’s holiday, Ricardo Escamilla from Cabo San Lucas, fishing on the “YAHOO,” a 42-foot Bertram, with Mate Jose Escamilla Yahoo; Captain Ricardo Escamilla Yahoo caught and released Eight 80 to 100-pound Striped Marlin, plus One 100-pound Hammerhead Shark, and One 120-pound Thresher Shark, on mackerel at the La Brecha Spot.

"MY WAY," a 49-foot Viking

Captain Arturo and Mates Daniel and Josue ran to the La Brecha on the “MY WAY,” a 49-foot Viking, where Clyde Biddle, Jeffrey Rich, Nita Davis, Pete Davis, Sandra Caston, and Vickie Rich were able to catch and release Nine 100 to 120-pound Striped Marlin before they headed to the Cerrito del Golden where they caught Six 12-pound Dorado and Two 4-pound Sierra all on bait. It was a fun day, one where they caught a diverse number of species. They couldn’t wait to return home to show off the photos of their catch that day!

Malcolm Thompson, Mitchell Nicholson, and Monty Nobel chartered the “ADRIANA,” a 28-foot Uniflite to fish with Captain Frank and Mate Ulises G., who ran the boat for the anglers from Ontario, Canada. They were happy to be in warm Baja instead of the snow and freezing weather, and they hoped to catch a marlin or two. They were lucky to be on the right boat with the right captain and mate because they caught and released Four Striped Marlin in the 100 to 120-pound range and One Dorado on mackerel at the Golden Gate. It was an excellent day, one that they would not soon forget.

On the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram, Captain Roberto Sandez La Tova, Mate Rigo de La Tova, who ran the boat, headed to the Golden Bank where their group from Chicago caught and released Four Striped Marlin weighing around 95 to 120 pounds. They were taken on mackerel. They also caught two Dorado, one weighing approximately 5 to 8 pounds on cuchy, and 27 Sierra weighing in the 4-pound range on cuchy, which were at Migriano. Not only were Angela Allen, Audrey Hills, Bernie Allen, and Bradley Hills happy to be out of the cold, snowy weather, but they were pleased with their catches that day! It had been a fun day!

Captain Joel and Mate Norberto on the “BBII,” a37-foot Viking Billfish 2018, immediately took to their guests from California. It was a lively group who enjoyed fishing, as the captain and mate also did, so it was no surprise that they caught and released a Striped Marlin that weighed approximately 60 pounds, One Dorado weighing around 12 pounds, and One Yellowfin Tuna in the 8-pound range all on lures 40 miles outside the Del Cerro Spot. Chris Shore, David Dunn, Ernst Tchoi, Jason Matthias, Jose Urbalejo, and Shruti Viradia were the happy anglers who left the BBII that day, vowing to return soon for more of the exciting Sea of Cortez fishing.

Reel Primos,” a 38-footer run by Captain Antonio and Mate Cesar, took their group from Vancouver, Washington, outside the Lighthouse. There, Atrian Kennedy, Brandon Nuorala, Courtney Bogart, Don Kennedy, Jordan Kennedy, and Michael Nekvapil were thrilled to catch and release Three Striped Marlin weighing approximately 100 to 120 pounds and Two Dorado from 10 to 15 pounds, both on mackerel. They left gloomy, rainy, icy Vancouver for sunny, warm Baja and enjoyed every moment of their fishing day. Their captain and mate couldn’t have been more likable, and they were thrilled to have found them to be so accommodating.
