Pisces Fishing Report April 22nd to 28th

Nice Dorado on Pisces 30′ Karina this week!

Overall Catch Success Rate: 75%

Billfish: 27%, Tuna: 13%, Dorado: 11% , Other 33%

Fishing has remained similar to last week, with with some days making it tough to find our Marlin, and many choosing to stay inshore still and target more eating fish. A few very nice Dorado coming through. Yellowfin Tuna haven’t showed up yet, still getting Skipjack and Bonita. Inshore still some Sierra Mackerel, Snapper and Grouper. Weather-wise we saw wind on some days, creating some chop, but also had a few very nice calm and sunny days mixed in. 

Pisces 46′ La Chingona Top Marlin boat this week plus the only Roosterfish Released

Starting with our Marlin catches this week, which have held pretty steady since last week. Pisces 46’ La Chingona once again Top Marlin Release boat for third consecutive week, with 4 Striped Marlin in one day, April 24th. They landed the fish on ballyhoo and caballito bait at the 11:50 Spot with Marlin averaging between 80 and 110 lbs each.

Pisces 42’ Yahoo also Top Marlin Release boat with 4 Striped Marlin the next day at the 11:50 as well, all landed on caballito bait for anglers from South Carolina. 

Not far behind, Pisces 37’ BBII released 3 Striped Marlin at the 11:50 Spot on ballyhoo this same day, for angler Alan Killbrew and friends from Georgia.

Pisces 31’ Ruthless had 2 Striped Marlin Released for anglers Matthew John and Michael Bowen at the 11:50 Spot on Caballito bait.

Also starting to see a few more Dorado showing up as temperatures and conditions begin to change slightly. 

Pisces 30’ Karina had a 30 lbs Dorado for angler Christy Brown on a half day trip. The fish hit on a purple lure close to Cerro Colorado.

Pisces 31’ Ruthless had a 110 lbs Striped Marlin which hit on a caballito bait at the 95 Spot. Anglers from Texas had luck to have a decent Dorado of about 25 lbs hit another caballito there too.

In our “Other” Category, we had Pisces 46’ La Chingona with the only Roosterfish releases this week, two of them on live caballito on the Sea of Cortez side, Roosters were about 8 to 10 lbs each.

Pisces 31’ La Brisa inshore fishing produced 5 Sierra Mackerel, 6 Ladyfish and Sheepshead by chumming close to Migrino, and Sierras on hoochies.

Nice Hammerheads for Pisces 24’ Panga Anamar II which stayed inshore and released 3 Hammers total, all weighing between 50 and 80 lbs and taking caballito bait at the Old Lighthouse. They also caught a Bonita on hoochis.

Pisces 45’ My Way with some great inshore catches this week, a Sierra Mackerel of abut 8 lbs on hoochis, 6 Grouper, 2 Jack Crevalle released, all for Thomas Rafferty and friends from Waco, TX. All caught at Destiladeras area on the Cortez side. 

Pisces 42’ Caliente finding the Yellowtail still, a 25 pounder on live bait at Barco Varado area.
