SEPTEMBER 22ND TO 28TH, 2012

BILLFISH: Latest news (this barely made it to the report): 722 lbs Blue Marlin caught aboard the 46ft Attitude Adjustment with Captain Edgar Renter?a. Angler Dave Smith, from Atlanta caught anything close was a 55l lb’er twenty five years ago at Walkers Cay, Bahamas. Fifty-eight year old Dave Smith spoke to us from the boat not long after the fish was on board he was awed by the whole event but thrilled " This fish came out of nowhere, it almost spooled us but we recovered line; it was a brute – every time we would get it as close as twenty feet, it would take off at full speed and rip off line". The beginning of the week didn’t look too bright for billfish, with a couple of days of rain and wind, the port ended up closed for 2 days. Last Monday we took Mike Viola’s party out aboard the Tracy Ann, In the picture below, John Boyce from Hilton Head, SC, with his sailfish, his first billfish ever.
OTHER CATCHES: On small game, almost 80% of the boats caught Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) most catches between 4 and 7 fish but were some boats with 11-12 fish caught and the Tracy Ann gets the catch of the week with 13 dorados in one day for Mark Scott’s party from Atlanta GA. We also have a great catch to report in this section. John Sato from Palm Springs, CA. caught a humongous 75 lbs Roosterfish aboard the 23ft Panga “Gloria” , took him 40 minutes to reel in on 30 lbs test by Shimano, they caught the fish just outside Cerro de Arena within 15 feet from shore.

BEST LURES: Caballito, assorted lures.
